Measure the area
Break odd shapes into rectangles, measure each one, and add the square footage together. Round up to the nearest foot.
Pick the depth
Use the table above. For a refresh over existing mulch, only count the new depth you are adding.
Order in half yards
Most bulk materials sell by the half yard, so round up to the next half rather than coming up short.
