Bank Sand
Bank sand is a clean, general-purpose sand used anywhere you need drainage and an easy-to-level surface. It is the everyday sand for pool bases, above-ground pool pads, trench backfill, and low-spot leveling.
What it is used for
- Above-ground pool bases and play areas
- Trench and utility backfill
- Leveling under pavers and stepping stones
- Improving drainage in soggy spots
Depth & coverage
Recommended depth
1 to 2 inches for leveling; 4 to 6 inches for a pool or play base.
Coverage
One cubic yard covers about 160 square feet at 2 inches deep.
Installation tips
- 1Wet and tamp sand as you level it. Dry sand keeps moving.
- 2For pavers, use bank sand for bulk and fine sand for the final bedding layer.
- 3Sand does not fix drainage on its own if it sits in a clay bowl — give the water somewhere to go.
