Enriched Topsoil
Enriched topsoil is screened topsoil with nutrients blended in. It is the standard base under new sod and seed, and the right material for leveling low spots in an existing lawn without smothering the grass.
What it is used for
- Base layer under new sod or seed
- Leveling dips and low spots in turf
- Building up settled areas along foundations
- Filling new landscape beds
Depth & coverage
Recommended depth
2 to 4 inches under new sod; no more than 1/2 inch per pass when leveling live turf.
Coverage
One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at 3 inches deep.
Installation tips
- 1Rake and roll before laying sod. Sod telegraphs every bump underneath it.
- 2When leveling a live lawn, work in thin passes weeks apart so grass can grow through.
- 3Slope soil away from the foundation, not toward it.
